These Terms govern your use of askforhelpinghand.us and our telephone referral service. By using either, you agree to them.
Read the next section carefully. It is the most important one on this page, because it describes the limits of what we do.
What this service is — and is not
Ask For Helping Hand is an information and referral service. We tell you which federal, state and local assistance programs may fit your situation, and how to reach them.
We do not pay your rent, utilities, medical bills, or any other expense. We do not issue grants, loans, or financial assistance of any kind.
We do not fill out or submit applications for you, and we do not act as your agent or representative with any agency or program.
We are not a government agency. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any federal, state or local government body, or any of the programs we mention. Every program we describe can be found and applied for directly, by you, at no cost, without using this service.
We are not a nonprofit or charity. We do not accept donations.
We are not a law firm, a financial adviser, a housing counsellor, or a medical provider, and nothing here is legal, financial or medical advice.
No guarantee of eligibility or outcome
Eligibility for every program we mention is decided by the agency that runs it — not by us. We cannot promise that you qualify for anything, that funding is available, or that an application will be approved.
Program rules, funding levels, income limits and deadlines change often and vary by state and county. We work to keep information current, but you should always confirm details directly with the program before relying on them.
Your responsibilities
Give us accurate information about your situation, so the referrals you get are useful.
Use the service for yourself or someone you are genuinely helping — not to harvest data, test systems, or send automated traffic.
Do not misuse the site: no scraping, reverse engineering, interfering with its operation, or attempting to gain unauthorised access.
How we make money
The service is free to you. We earn through referral partnerships: when we refer you to a partner and you choose to use that partner's service, the partner may pay us a fee.
This never changes which free government programs we tell you about, and the free option is always named first. See our Advertiser Disclosure for the full explanation.
Third-party programs and links
This site links to government agencies, nonprofits and hotlines we do not control. We list them as a public service. We are not responsible for their content, their decisions, their availability, or how they handle your information.
Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that the information on it is complete or current.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of — or inability to use — the service, including a missed deadline, a denied application, or a program that turned out not to fit.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Changes, termination and governing law
We may change these Terms; the “last updated” date shows when. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
We may suspend or end access to anyone who misuses the service.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. [Confirm this choice with counsel and align it with where the company is actually organised.]
